Jennifer Lopez Was Solo in N.Y.C. on the Day She Listed as Her Separation from Ben Affleck in Divorce Filing

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage ended months ago, she confirmed in her divorce filing on Aug. 20 — and she was photographed on the day in question.

The Atlas star’s date of separation listed on documents filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court is April 26, 2024. That same day, Lopez, 55, was spotted taking a solo stroll in New York City.

Lopez’s move to file for divorce from Affleck, 52, came more than two years after the couple married in July 2022.

An insider close to Lopez told PEOPLE of her decision to file that the star is ready to “move on” from Affleck.

“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” said the insider.

Lopez and Affleck most recently reunited on his 52nd birthday last week, which an insider told PEOPLE he spent having a small “celebration at home” with his kids.

“She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken,” a source told PEOPLE of Lopez. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

The actress and singer shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex husband Marc Anthony, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2014. Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and shares three children with her: Violet Anne, 18, Seraphina Rose, 15, and Samuel, 12.

The former couple spent much of their summer apart — with Lopez spending time relaxing in Italy with friends in June before returning to New York. Meanwhile, Affleck mostly remained in Los Angeles to film his movie The Accountant 2.

The pair also spent their July 16th wedding anniversary separately, and the actor was not present for her 55th birthday later that month during her extended stay in the Hamptons.

Ahead of their divorce, Affleck and Lopez put the mansion they shared together in Beverly Hills on the market in June, as a source previously told PEOPLE. Affleck later purchased a new $20 million home in Los Angeles in July.
